Biografía:

I'm Vanessa and I graduated in Modern Literature at the University of Bologna and I have a Master's degree in Science of Religions obtained at the University of Padua. I started tutoring Italian a few years ago to high schoolers; this year I have been teaching adults and children. When I lecture with children, I like to have a nice talk, read a story, or play didactic games. With adults I identify the topics in which they have difficulties and do a lesson about it. I also propose conversations.

Mi metodología de enseñanza:

To teach adults, I first identify what level to start with in teaching grammar. Then, I conduct an organized lesson on the subject, including providing examples, which the student can do as impromptu exercises to assess understanding of the topic. For children, I use books with bilingual fairy tales or simple explanations on basic topics, but we can also have a talk, play educational games, or watch a cartoon in Italian. I also provide worksheets with vocabulary learned during the lesson.

Mi experiencia docente:

As a live tutor, I helped two Italian high school boys respectively improve their writing skills in Italian and with logical period analysis. The latter student, thanks to my help, was able to recover a school debt with an excellent grade. I am currently an online tutor and I teach Latin to a woman and Italian to two children and a girl.

Mi experiencia fuera de la enseñanza:

I was a proofreader for the publishing house Gilgamesh Edizioni in Italy; I was a babysitter for two children aged two and three in Paris and I am currently trying to enroll in a doctorate program in France to complete my studies.

I love read and learn new things, the topics I can talk about are really a lot.
I published two books, poetry and a short novels collection with a publisher house;
I studied also Latin for six years, I can use this knowledge to improve my explanations of the Italian grammar;

Description:

If you want your child to learn Italian, but not in a classical and frustrating way, this is the perfect course for him. Through the proposal of games, readings and comics, your child will be able to better memorize what he will learn during the course. The half-hour lessons are designed not to bore him and allow to better metabolize the topics learned during the lessons.

Here’s how the course will be structured:

First lesson

Teaching the main basics of Italian to enable the child to better understand games and readings

Second lesson

A good talk to understand what the child likes and allow him to express himself, speaking in Italian, of course!

Third, Fourth, Fifth lesson

Reading of stories in Italian, and then, as needed, translated into English or French (Little Red Riding Hood/Snow-white/Hansel and Gretel/Rumpelstiltskin/Cinderella/Rapunzel). If children are between four and seven years old, we can read very simple stories with dinosaurs explaining numbers, colors, animals, and clothes.
AND/OR talking, inventing stories together
AND/OR watching cartoons and reading comics of Pimpa, explaining words in English or French if needed. Pimpa is a very cute white dog with red dots who is very popular among Italian children, invented by Francesco Tullio Altan. Her stories are full of kindness, sweetness and fun
AND/OR playing games to remember Italian words. They can be movement games such as "full sack empty sack" (the child has to stand up or down if the sack is called full or empty), touching face parts with the requested hand, "Strega comanda color" (the child will show me something of the color I ask for), or playing together educational games on the Devoto Oli Junior website
AND/OR singing and learning some simple children-friendly italian songs.
