- Hi, I am Muriel, and I am a licensed professional teacher from the Philippines. I have over 10 years of experience helping adults and professionals communicate with confidence in English.
My teaching methodology:
- My lessons are structured, interactive, and immediately useful. I teach the way a coach trains an athlete, and I work with a clear strategy, consistent accountability, and a strong focus on what drives your progress. We work through different types of lessons based on what you need most.
- News lessons use real articles to build vocabulary, sharpen reading skills, and spark genuine discussion.
- Video lessons develop your listening skills through authentic content, and each session includes comprehension questions, discussion, and critical thinking exercises.
- General English lessons open with a thought-provoking quote, move through vocabulary in context, and close with conversation practice you can use right away.
- Business English lessons follow the same structured approach as General English, but the focus is on professional language, workplace situations, and the kind of communication that earns respect at work.
- English for Specific Purposes lessons include useful expressions, dialogue practice, and role play, and we target the exact situations you face in your field.
- Grammar, Phrasal Verbs, and Idioms lessons connect directly to speaking and writing, and the goal is to make sure each lesson carries over beyond the classroom.
- Optional homework is available after every session for students who want to continue growing, and it may include vocabulary practice, comprehension exercises, and writing tasks.
My teaching background:
- I started my teaching career in grade school and high school English, and then I moved into business education at a top state university. That experience gave me a deep understanding of how language learning progresses at every level, and it also showed me what workplace credibility sounds like in the real world. I am a licensed professional teacher, and since 2019, I have been teaching English online to motivated adults and career-driven professionals across South America, Europe, and Asia.
- My students come to me with different goals. Some are getting ready for job interviews and boardroom presentations, while others are struggling with everyday conversations and wanting those to feel more effortless. Some are working through the intermediate plateau, while others are looking to grow in their careers and reach their full potential. What they all have in common is that they are serious about making visible progress, and they leave with exactly that.
My background outside of teaching:
- Outside the classroom, I enjoy reading, keeping up with current events, and exploring topics across business, culture, and technology. These interests shape the lessons I build, and they give us plenty of rich and engaging material to work with together.
