My aim for every class is to impart practical knowledge that can be used immediately. To that end, I use relevant props and multimedia to bring lessons to life. The more a student connects with the material, the more they learn!

Mi metodología de enseñanza:

"Your English is good enough! Nobody cares if you make mistakes!" Almost every lesson I tell my students this! Indeed, I also tell myself this when I'm studying Hungarian. My lessons are positive and fun. I teach in a natural way and encourage you to bring your own interests to class. My lessons are also student-led. Need to brush up on grammar? Are you having a hard time writing a formal bussiness email? Or maybe you need to prepare for a big presentation and your nervous? I'm your teacher for nearly all forms of language learning and speaking from absolute beginner to the advanced speaker! Any questions, just ask! Mi experiencia docente:

I have been teaching English as a Foreign Language since 2010. Since then, I have taught a wide range of students and subjects including: Business English, IELTS, English for Tourism and General English. I have additional experience teaching young learners Language Arts and General English.

Mi experiencia fuera de la enseñanza:

My biggest passion is swing dancing, a kind of dance from the 1920's to 1940's. I spend most of my time while I'm not teaching either learning more about dance, reading about psychology or drinking coffee with friends.

3 hechos únicos sobre mi:

I am from the United States, but I currently live in Budapest, Hungary!
I dance Lindy Hop, a popular dance that came from the 1940's. Funnily enough, I learned this American dance in Hungary!
I foster rescue dogs that are looking for their "forever-homes."

Description:

Have you ever hear d of the Frye Festival? It was a disastrous music event in 2017 that went so badly the organizer ended up spending six years in prison! It has also provided many comic and fascinating moments that illustrate concepts in marketing and advertising. In this course you will increase your spoken fluency by using new vocabulary and idioms in related to this layered field.

Here’s how the course will be structured:

Language Level – C1, Advanced English

LESSON 1

Vocabulary: slogan, target market, demographics, advertising campaign, viral advertising, endorse

Students will watch varying advertising spots and discuss each target market in terms of demographics( age, income level, education level.)

Fyre Festival – commercial: What is the key demographic?

LESSON 2

Vocabulary: endorse, catchy, witty, memorable, persuasive, misleading, jingle, sponsor

Examine instances of successful viral marketing and analyze the reasons for its success.

Learn about niche markets and how companies market to them.

Fyre Festival and viral marketing: Why was it so affective?

LESSON 3

Vocabulary: Brand, brand mark, logo, brand characters, slogans, innovative upscale, generic, discount

Practice the use of common adjectives to describe a brand (i.e. reliable).

Practice the use of brand collocations (i.e. Brand awareness, brand loyalty etc.).

FYRE FESTIVAL: Phrasal Verb - Kahoot

LESSON 4

Vocabulary: brand loyalty, brand identify, brand awareness, brand leader, brand equity

Introduce the concept of a mission statement

Examine how Fyre Festival’s founder developed brand identity and how he used this to mis-lead investors.

LESSON 5

In this lesson we examine and synthesize previously learned material by discussing the Fyre Festival at length. This will be a wonderful opportunity to understand how the previous topics come together and affect one another.
